50% off Fall Outdoor Bootcamps AND Semi Private Personal Training

Dear Everyone,

I am working with the Montreal based company Yingo (www.yingo.ca) this season to offer 50% off Fall Outdoor Bootcamps (5 weeks, 10 classes total).  Now that summer is coming to an end, work is starting to pick up and exercise is easily being pushed aside.  It's just in time for when the leaves are changing and the air is getting fresh and brisk.  We must take advantage of our beautiful autumn weather!

All details are in the link below.  You can register directly on there.

Classes start in two weeks so sign up now to reserve a spot!

Cool fact about Yingo, they donate 10% of their proceeds to charity.  I believe at the moment the charity they are supporting is the Canadian Liver foundation:  http://liver.ca/,

And in the case that group classes ain't quite your thing the second promotion being offered may be more suited to your needs.  Just have a look at the details on the link above.  No excuses not to get in shape this autumn and working with a fun group is really one of the BEST ways to do it.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions!  I'm happy to help and always happy to answer.

Sincerely

Angela

ReCap on Summer - What's been happening

It's been a great summer and I'm sad it's ended! There has been enough happening on my end that I have been very bad at keeping up on my blog!

So I wanted to give a quick lil' recap of what's been happening and next I'll let you know what's going on in The Fall!

PAST EVENTS:

KIMBERLY KOTAR RUNNING TALK (Aug. 27th)
Most recently we had an amazing running talk by a very experienced and talented marathoner and motivational speaker Kim Kotar @clubmansfield.  Kim has a unique and courageous story that she shared everyone.  She also offered amazing running tips to all the runners who attended and who are preparing for their first race in September.  To learn more about Kim's story please check out the link here:

Stories like hers remind me that you can achieve anything you set out for. Always believe in your capabilities.

COLOUR RUN (Aug. 16th)
We had a super fun time at Montreal's colour run at Parc Jean Drapeau this year!  It was a real blast, and a great opportunity to take the day off and just chill out in the sun after the run.

I WON AN AWARD (June 5th)
Excuse the vanity in this one guys :$.  My article published in SLEEP this past December won an award for article of the year in its category by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine! I was pretty proud of it since it came from my masters thesis, so I couldn't help but share. Checker out !

And that's what's been up!!!
Next week we have our marathon (eek first ever!)
And many of my clients are bravely running their first event as well!
I'll give you more details next week.
Can't wait to tell you how it goes,

Have a beautiful weekend.  Remember to relax, de-stess and focus on everything that is good.
Happiness is health.

I have decided to start training for my first Marathon! I'm excited and will keep you posted on which race I decide to do and how it goes.
It will definitely be a challenge but one I would love to take on.
Just want to announce it to make it more real!
Have an amazing day!

Anyone Can Be a Runner

My client did her first 5km this past weekend.  When she started running 3 months ago she was over 230lbs and everyone told her she shouldn't do it, that she was 'too heavy' to run, she was going to get injured, ... or whatever other type of rubbish.

Well... 3 months later, and over 20lbs lighter (and counting...) she has run her first 5km and has signed up for 2 more races since, including a 10km in September.  No injuries, just shrinking in size, and increasing in strength and stamina.

....

Another client of mine, 47 years old started working with me last year, could barely run...period.  Going through consistent strength training, running training and learning technique, for a good YEAR... can now run a 5km in 25 minutes, with eaaaseee.

.....

These are just TWO scenarios.  I too used to thinking I was not 'made for running'.... I thought because I got out of breathe, it was not my thing. Until I realized, like anything... I just had to practice. I had to realize that as said below... ANY one can run. For me this concept was life changing, and I love showing people that they can do it too.  One of the most rewarding parts of my job is to see people realize it for themselves. If it's something they want to do.

We were meant to move.

We were meant to run. "

Bruce Lee on Power, Speed, Flexibilty... Read this.

Power / Speed / Flexibility  Bruce Lee quotes on power, speed, and flexibility:

I
Live by this...

“A powerful athlete is not a strong athlete, but one who can exert his strength quickly. Since power equals force times speed, if the athlete learns to make faster movements he increases his power, even though the contractile pulling strength of his muscles remains unchanged. Thus, a smaller man who can swing faster may hit as hard or as far as the heavier man who swings slowly.” “Do not be tense, just be ready, not thinking but not dreaming, not being set but being flexible. It is being “wholly” and quietly alive, aware and alert, ready for whatever may come.” “Endurance is lost rapidly if one ceases to work at its maximum.” “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” “Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.” “One should be in harmony with, not in opposition to, the strength and force of the opposition. This means that one should do nothing that is not natural or spontaneous; the important thing is not to strain in any way.” “The athlete who is building muscles though weight training should be very sure to work adequately on speed and flexibility at the same time. In combat, without the prior attributes, a strong man will be like the bull with its colossal strength futilely pursuing the matador or like a low-geared truck chasing a rabbit.” “The less effort, the faster and more powerful you will be.” “When one has reached maturity in the art, one will have a formless form. It is like ice dissolving in water. When one has no form, one can be all forms; when one has no style, he can fit in with any style.”
